2017 Csa Week 5 We were able to pick a few last week, but not enough for our csa boxes, so we took them to market. this week we hope to have enough for csa. as we mentioned earlier, the drought last year was hard on our raspberries and we lost most of the patch. the few rows that we kept are not great. Csa 2017 Farmer nate is here for the fifth and final week of the 2017 spring csa. we are very excited to start the summer csa next, but will miss our spring csa membe. For the 5th week of the csa main season, members with basic shares will be able to choose 5 items each week and members with premium will be able to choose 8 items each week. We believe you are part of one of the best csa programs in the state, possible all of new england! first corn, first peas, first beans, fruit included, all grown by your farmer. keep this information in mind as we are looking to grow our membership (for next year) a little. What’s going on at the farm: plenty of rain this past week has kept our soil and plant growth going well around here as we finish off the first quarter of the season this week with some familiar summer veggies and some new crops for us this year. This week lots of summer veggies (zucchini, carrots, and basil) are starting to make their way into your boxes, as well as our favorite oddball vegetable: celtuce!. 2017 csa week 5 recipes this week we included broiler chickens in the omnivore csa share so we included a recipe which cooks a whole bird for those who may be looking for cooking inspiration. I missed the last two csa deliveries (don’t worry, the vegetables went to a good home), and now that i’m back, we’re in the midst of a summer squash and zucchini explosion. On monday, we said goodbye to roy, strong, garnet, and jasper for the 2017 growing season and i am a little heartbroken. every year about this time the jamaican crew head home.
