Csa 2017 I love me a good coleslaw, so consider grating everything in this week’s box into an epic slaw. i am only half kidding. i would not use soft fruits, corn, eggplant or lettuce, but any cabbage, kohlrabi, carrots, turnips, radishes, celeriac, beets, even apples, would be delightful. Cook 3 4 cup of red rice in boiling water for 15 20 minutes, or until tender. in a large skillet add 2 tbsp of olive oil and 1 2 of a finely diced shallot. saute for several minutes then add 1 diced green pepper, and 1 4 of a diced jalapeno pepper, and continue to saute. Long time csa member lee draznin has embarked on a blogging project this year: it's called "what do i do with this box?", and the name speaks for itself. we invite all of you to join us in lee's kitchen for the next few months, while we learn how he uses the bounty that comes to his door every week. We're in the edamame field to talk about back to school snacks with the vegetables from this week's basket. learn more about our edamame harvest and the bene.

Somehow even the csa couldn’t satiate me this week. we ended up hauling one of the largest loads we’ve ever had from the market—full of cider, flowers, scallions, mushrooms, and more tomatoes (how that is possible, i don’t know). They are super tasty roasted or stuffed, and also provide a nice kick if you’re making salsa. enjoy! remember to check out katherine’s recipe blog for new, delicious cooking tips: cookwithwhatyouhave sauvie island organics recipes tips farmer of the week. We’ll have a few shallots and maybe leeks for you in the weeks to come, but these will be your last onions for the season. remember to come to the neskowin valley school harvest festival this saturday! say hi to us, support the school, and enjoy fresh pressed cider, fresh food, and music all day.
