This week has been a hot one! we did our best to get our outdoor work done earlier and later in the day, but we did have to work through some of the brutal heat. (we are hoping there will be enough shishitos for csa all week. but if we are short, thursday pick up might have to wait until next week – it’s all weather dependent. a good rain is much needed for all the crops.) basil and hot weather are a great match – and this week we have plenty of both!. Csa tip of the week: heirloom tomatoes are in full swing at the farm. most weeks, we will be able to offer tomatoes with a wide variety of ripenesses. understand that heirloom tomatoes grow in a variety of shapes and sizes and tend to have more blemishes than store tomatoes.
