Csa Week 8 2016 We got some greatly needed rain and the blueberries will probably rebound enough to get back on board for csa. definitely check out all the zucchini bars, cakes, breads, beet cake, and many pickle recipes on the blog!. As csa members, we support them, enjoy the bounty and, i hope, create our own food memories with our families and friends as we experiment with new recipes and foods and look forward to the weekly summer tradition of picking up a box of that week's finest produce. may you all eat well this week.
Csa Week 1 2016 Next week… more heirlooms, eggplant, peppers, and golden beets have a wonderful week!. What’s going on at the farm: this last week we harvested all of our garlic and cleaned, bundled and set it out for curing. our garlic haul is beautiful this year and probably the nicest we’ve had in terms of size and overall quality. They are already starting the process of drying down and curing, but for a few more weeks you’ll get the fresh bulbs with greens attached. just about every onion is huge, and they are pretty sweet and mild when they are fresh like this. Today i cruised through the first broccoli planting and was happy to find big, perfectly mature broccoli for the shares this week. and after some thinning and some water, the beets have finally sized up in the quantity needed to include in the share again. We're going to make a final push to tackle a few sections in the coming days as it looks like next week rain arrives, fingers crossed! we could use a couple rainy days aka time in the kitchen!we set up trellis for a row of pole beans on monday, woohoo!. This week’s harvest summer squash zucchini green cabbage red long of tropea onions lettuce kale cucumbers scarlet salad turnips or kohlrabi* choice of herbs* a few tomatoes *not included in wednesday shares. This week’s csa box has just about all the fixins to make ratatouille which is one of our go to dinners during this time of year. it doesn’t get much easier than chopping up a bunch of veggies and tossing them in a pot to simmer altogether.
