September 15th 2006 Nebraska Tornadic Supercell September 15th was in my opinion a classic “day before the big day” scenario over south central nebraska. adequate shear and lift were available, but quality low level moisture return was the main problem. The first signs of activity took place on the evening of the 15th, particularly in nebraska and kansas. several tornadoes were reported with varying degrees of damage.

This paper describes the environmental conditions, satellite im agery, and ground and airborne doppler radar obser vations of this storm, referred to as the superior, nebraska, supercell. The awesome power of nature was on full display as stormchasers captured these amazing images of a mothership supercell storm forming over nebraska. June 23rd 2006 Northwest Nebraska Tornadic Supercell The awesome power of nature was on full display as stormchasers captured these amazing images of a mothership supercell storm forming over nebraska. September 15th was in my opinion a classic “day before the big day” scenario over south central nebraska. adequate shear and lift were available, but quality low level moisture return was the main problem. This very round and wrapped up supercell (which still has a tornado according to the damage survey) was about to much me and cut me off. the big image below was as i was turing around, looking west. And finally the storm of the day formed west of the black hills in northeast wyoming and tracked southeast into northwest nebraska. this storm had beautiful hp supercell structure and produced a couple of short lived tornadoes, one of which is shown below.
