June 12th Wyoming And Nebraska Tornadic Supercells June 12th had the potential to be a record breaking event for eastern wyoming, as well as the nebraska panhandle. at the end of the day numerous tornadoes formed across the landscape!. Throughout the afternoon several tornadoes touched down initially near fort laramie, wy and lifted northeast through north central goshen county, and crossed the state line into sioux county. several homesteads were damaged with 2 minor injuries in this area.

One of these tracked from near loveland, colorado northeast through northern colorado, southeast wyoming, and all the way through the nebraska panhandle. A nose of 3,000 4,000 j kg of mlcape developed into western nebraska and eastern wyoming, allowing for a very unstable airmass. shear, lift, instability and moisture appeared sufficient for a tornado outbreak to occur. By the time it reached interstate 25, it had developed into a supercell and would go on to produce several small tornadoes. however at the same time, a cluster of severe storms to the south had developed near fort collins, colorado.

Several apparent targets for monday the 12th. models agree on an arc of supercells firing in far eastern wyoming and the nebraska panhandle as early as 20z as the main jet streak arrives over a plume of 60s dewpoints moving east into the high plains. On june 12th, i started the morning in sidney, ne after a terrible hotel experience the previous night. after spending the night in a cheap to say the least hotel where i slept with mosquitoes in my room all night i began to head west with an initial target of cheyenne, wy. The chase then brought me into the southwestern portion of the nebraska panhandle, where i saw at least two brief tornadoes, within a cluster of supercells. by the time the chase was over, i saw at least three tornadoes, including the first of my career in colorado.
