Remote Start Subaru Outback Forums I took it to one of my local subaru dealerships, and they couldn't get the transmitter to pair either. but the oem key fob works, and can remote start the vehicle. Every remote start vehicle i have ever had required a press of the lock button before hitting the remote start, even if the vehicle is already locked. this seems to be universal, so i am pretty sure yours is functioning properly.

Remote Start Subaru Outback Forums Subaru outback is a place for owners and enthusiasts to show off their rides, discuss modifications, mechanical issues, industry news, etc. But the reason they specify push button start is because the key start isn't capable of it at all. the push button is capable of it with the dealer installed remote start accessory. I've never understood the appeal of remote start (not even when i lived in upstate new york). it's far easier on the engine and the environment to start 'em, put 'em in gear, and drive 'em with gentle throttle action until the temp gauge moves. You probably have app based remote start available, for a subscription through the mysubaru app. i believe several years are included in the cost of a new car, but it’s non transferable.

After doing more research, i have come to the conclusion that i need to learn if my vehicle has "subaru genuine remote engine start" factory or dealer installed. Nothing was said about installing remote start. the fob based remote start, as noted, is more than just programming. several interior panels have to be removed, a control unit installed and the interior reassembled before programming the system to the car. Is remote start worth it? i contacted my local subaru dealership and asked them how much it would be to get remote start installed in my 2012 outback. they said it would be about $700 for parts and labor. i was wondering if remote start is worth it for the price. Page 335 of the my2020 outback manual discusses using the key fob to operate the remote start but i cannot get it to work. i also found a video of an australian dealer (assuming by his accent) demonstrating this functionality.
