I took it to one of my local subaru dealerships, and they couldn't get the transmitter to pair either. but the oem key fob works, and can remote start the vehicle. Now that it looks like i've found my deal, i want to hear from people who have had experience with the remote start installed on their keyless (proximity key) start outback. I mostly understand the concern with app based remote start not working in bad cell coverage areas. i say 'mostly' because, at least in my case, i simply get in the car and push the button. The subaru remote start is sold as a complete, field installable accessory kit, with all the parts you need. as walker already posted, after installing the kit you will need to pay a dealer to register the remote start with your outback's anti theft system before remote start will work.
