Factory Remote Start Subaru Outback Forums
Factory Remote Start Subaru Outback Forums I wanted to order the factory remote start and i was told that the factory does not install the remote anymore and it was a dealer installed item only. and it would cost more for the dealer to install as well. Subaru outback is a place for owners and enthusiasts to show off their rides, discuss modifications, mechanical issues, industry news, etc.
Factory Remote Start Subaru Outback Forums The subaru remote start hardware is exceptional, but the vehicle's software ladder logic is a tragic fail. these are the problems: the engine shuts off when the door is opened. the door cannot be locked when the engine is running. it would be useful when temporarily leaving the vehicle on a cold. After doing more research, i have come to the conclusion that i need to learn if my vehicle has "subaru genuine remote engine start" factory or dealer installed. I took it to one of my local subaru dealerships, and they couldn't get the transmitter to pair either. but the oem key fob works, and can remote start the vehicle. I saw another thread that involves discussion about remote start but wanted to specifically get a little more insight on recommendation of going with the factory option or the basic version that viper offers.

I originally had a 17 limited 3.6 and had the subaru remote start added at the point of purchase. Now that it looks like i've found my deal, i want to hear from people who have had experience with the remote start installed on their keyless (proximity key) start outback. I mostly understand the concern with app based remote start not working in bad cell coverage areas. i say 'mostly' because, at least in my case, i simply get in the car and push the button. The subaru remote start is sold as a complete, field installable accessory kit, with all the parts you need. as walker already posted, after installing the kit you will need to pay a dealer to register the remote start with your outback's anti theft system before remote start will work.
