Winter Spring Csa Week 8 When planning the season, i misread the calendar, so we had planned two weeks in a row in april may. the correct dates for the remainder of the season are march 13 and 27, april 10 and 24, may 8 and 22, and june 5. We marked the passing of the spring equinox this past weekend by transplanting peas, which feels like the right thing to be doing. the days are officially longer than the nights and it feels like the growing season is taking off already.
Winter Spring Csa Week 11 We are planning to include the following items in your csa share this week: the many health benefits from fennel is worth giving this unique vegetable a try. along with a range of vitamins and minerals, it contains phytonutrients and anti inflammatory flavonoids, boosting immunity. This year we’ve been experimenting with a new cover crop in our rotation here: winter rye. planted in the fall, the rye grew quickly into a thick stand of grass, covering the soil throughout the winter and then growing even more early in the spring. We’re planning on another week of harvesting beautiful greens from outside and the caterpillar tunnels. we will finally be digging into our stash of butternut squash this week, along with plenty of potatoes for your holiday meals. So far december feels like deep winter, despite not having yet greeted the solstice. my gratitude for storage produce continues to expand & hope for new growth has begun to take root.
Winter Spring Csa Week 9 We’re planning on another week of harvesting beautiful greens from outside and the caterpillar tunnels. we will finally be digging into our stash of butternut squash this week, along with plenty of potatoes for your holiday meals. So far december feels like deep winter, despite not having yet greeted the solstice. my gratitude for storage produce continues to expand & hope for new growth has begun to take root. I can’t believe that we only have two more shares left before we take our annual spring break to get the farm all set for the coming season. even after 12 years i still get excited back to school vibes every spring as we dive into another year of inevitable chaos, beauty, and so much growth 💚 there’s really nothing like working with. Though this is the final week of winter csa, believe us when we say we are hard at work getting plants, fields, and supplies ready for the main season! we broke ground on the first vegetable plots within our new deer fence. There's one delivery left in the winter csa. we signed up for the spring share, which is weekly for eight weeks (after a gap of three weeks, if i recall correctly). we'll make decisions about summer later; for that we have options for both size and frequency. There will also be plenty of organic, pasture raised eggs and meat to add on to set you up well for healthy and delicious eating through spring. we get lots of questions about what exactly a csa is and the benefits.
