Smell Art
Smell Art “in my work and research, i never use the term ‘scent’ or ‘fragrance,’” tolaas said. “smell is the only term in english that truly applies to how i think and work.” she analyzed 55 garments, 35 of which are on display. her process entails using a microfilter to trap air and moisture in a glass tube with a pump (this process can take up to 2 hours). Smell art collaborates with artists to elevate live music, theatre performances, and film screenings through the art of scent. scent has the unique ability to influence emotions, heighten other senses, and foster a sense of unity among strangers.
