Scent Pod Smell Art Scent pod showcases handmade giant origami seed pods that release the energising scent of lemon scented eucalyptus, distilled from trees here in footscray. the scent pods are based on an elegant design from the japanese origami expert jun mitani. Richard wilson’s installation 20:50 (1987) is a prominent example of the use of industrial smell in contemporary art. the work consists of a gallery space filled to waist height with sump oil, producing an intense odour that accompanies the visual illusion of an apparently infinite surface.

I designed scents for three of the spaces using australian native essential oils. for one of them, i got to combine my love for origami and scent for the very first time. i made some giant origami scent emitting seed pods that spurted out the delicious smell of lemon scented eucalyptus.
