Seed Saving Workshop Nourish Project Buffalo niagara heritage village will host a seed saving workshop on saturday, september 26, 2026, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm in amherst. the session will be led by grassroots gardens of wny and focuses on practical seed saving methods. Selecting and saving the right seeds can result in stronger plants suited to your home garden’s environment. this workshop includes hands on demonstration for processing seeds and storing them for future seasons.

Educational programming is central to the seed library’s mission, with workshops on topics like seed saving, indoor germination and soil blocking and eco friendly methods for starting seeds without plastic pots. This class will cover harvesting and storing seeds from several common vegetables and flowers, with demonstration of special techniques for tomatoes, flowers, and bean seeds. The 11 students in our group began our project by meeting with phyllis keenan, an amherst community member and an experienced seed saver. we decided to organize a free workshop for community members at amherst town hall about basic seed saving. Learn herb care and processing techniques for some of your favorite herbs, like basil, dill, and cilantro. this workshop is for beginner level gardeners looking to learn more about growing, harvesting, and enjoying the herbs that grow during summer in wny. the workshop will include maintenance tips for successful growing and methods for processing herbs.
