Rendering Weird Shadows In Cycles Render Blender Stack Exchange You said you tried turning up the render samples, but as much as i can tell from the screenshot it looks like noise from a low sample render blurred by denoising. it would have been good to not only show the result but also your render settings like the samples and the denoising settings. It seems like the shadow caster in cycles isn’t working correctly. it’s just less noticeable when using high poly geometry and normal maps because there are more concrete normals.

Rendering Weird Shadows In Cycles Render Blender Stack Exchange Hey all. i have a weird issue here. i am getting strange shadows and reflections where i shouldn't be. what could cause this? i'm not sure why i am getting these shadows reflections. you can see in the screen shot that my model has single faces where there should be no extra geometry. help geometry looks fine. shadows look weird. I am trying to make a model, but when i try to render the file it shows dark shadows on the couch and even on floor wall junction. i don't know what's the issue. Any idea why i am constantly getting these random shadows and in the rendered texture using cycles and hdri for lighting? i don't get them in shading viewport. However, sometimes when manually manipulating edges and faces in blender, the normals get flipped. it’s not the end of the world, but it does make your model look weird. and once you export the model, flipped normals can leave behind bad artifacts. that’s why it’s best to fix these flipped normals.

There are two settings, one for the viewport and one for the final render. you typically want the final render to have more samples than the viewport. if the image is too noisy, you can increase the samples, and if it takes too long, you can decrease the samples. I've tried playing around with the lighting, and no matter what i do with the lights, the shadow is still there. anyone any suggestions for what could be causing this and what settings i could try playing around with to resolve this?. 1 you haven't rendered anything yet. that's just cycles render preview which uses less samples. you can increase the samples in the render properties. pressing 'f12' with a camera object in your scene will use the default 128 samples and look much better. the noise in your image is considered normal for the settings. preview: vs render at 300. As i said, the edge split modifier doesn't affect this strange behavior. and, there is no double, because it's a blender's default cylinder added from the menu "add".
