Rendering Strange Shadows On Render Cycles Blender Stack Exchange You said you tried turning up the render samples, but as much as i can tell from the screenshot it looks like noise from a low sample render blurred by denoising. it would have been good to not only show the result but also your render settings like the samples and the denoising settings. It seems like the shadow caster in cycles isn’t working correctly. it’s just less noticeable when using high poly geometry and normal maps because there are more concrete normals.

Any idea why i am constantly getting these random shadows and in the rendered texture using cycles and hdri for lighting? i don't get them in shading viewport. There are two settings, one for the viewport and one for the final render. you typically want the final render to have more samples than the viewport. if the image is too noisy, you can increase the samples, and if it takes too long, you can decrease the samples. When i render my scene in cycles, i get these really weird glitches (pictured in image). they happen more and more frequently the less directally my light source is illuminating them.
