In the present meta analysis, we aimed to examine the changes in the relationship between poverty and children’s brain development across the ages of the sample to determine whether poverty accelerates or decelerates children’s brain development. Poverty is associated with changes in brain development and elevates the risk for psychopathology in childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. although the field is rapidly expanding, there are methodological challenges that raise questions about the validity of current findings.
