Pradhan mantri awas yojana urban 2.0 (pmay u 2.0) aims to provide central assistance to eligible families beneficiaries through states uts plis to construct, purchase or rent affordable houses in urban areas.
Pmay U 2 0 Transforming Urban Housing With Land Rights Pradhan mantri awas yojana urban 2.0 (pmay u 2.0) – ‘housing for all’ mission provides financial assistance to 1 crore urban poor and middle class families to construct, purchase or rent a house at an affordable cost in cities. The pradhan mantri awas yojana – urban (pmay u 2.0) is a government housing scheme launched to provide affordable and all weather pucca houses to eligible urban families across india. Objective of pmay u 2.0: pmay u 2.0 will provide financial aid to 1 crore urban poor and middle class families through states uts plis for affordable housing in urban areas over five years from 1st september 2024. The contours of pmay u 2.0 have been designed on the basis of learnings of pmay u scheme, global best practices benchmarks and outcomes of series of consultations with multiple stakeholders including states uts, banks, housing finance companies, private sector etc.
Pmay U 2 0 Pwonlyias Objective of pmay u 2.0: pmay u 2.0 will provide financial aid to 1 crore urban poor and middle class families through states uts plis for affordable housing in urban areas over five years from 1st september 2024. The contours of pmay u 2.0 have been designed on the basis of learnings of pmay u scheme, global best practices benchmarks and outcomes of series of consultations with multiple stakeholders including states uts, banks, housing finance companies, private sector etc. In the last 8 9 years, aligning with the goal of ‘housing for all’, more than 1.18 crore houses have been sanctioned in 4,618 ulbs for construction under pmay u, out of which more than 88 lakh houses have been completed and delivered to the beneficiaries. Context: the union cabinet has approved the pradhan mantri awas yojana urban (pmay u) 2.0, which aims to provide financial assistance to help one crore urban poor and middle class families build, purchase, or rent affordable housing over five years. In order to seek benefit under pmay u 2.0, states uts will have to formulate “affordable housing policy” containing various reforms and incentives for ensuring active participation of public private entities and promote affordable housing ecosystem. Ministry of housing & urban affairs has initiated affordable rental housing complexes (arhcs), a sub scheme under pradhan mantri awas yojana urban (pmay u).
