Participate In Research Biocard Study The biocard study is enrolling new participants. by increasing the number of study participants, it will be possible to answer additional questions that are not feasible with a smaller sample size. Research in this area is increasing, but more work is still needed to fully understand and address these consequences, as well as make links to cognitive decline.

Biocard Study Now, about a third of the participants have developed either mild cognitive impairment or dementia, and researchers have learned that the plaques and tangles that characterize alzheimer’s disease develop long before symptoms appear. The participants in the biocard study were all cognitively unimpaired and primarily middle age when first enrolled. the study began in 1995 and was transferred to johns hopkins university in 2009, where it continues to the present time. Welcome to the johns hopkins biocard study. follow our links to learn more about alzheimer’s disease, the study, our research and our team members. Once again this year the biocard study team has organized a series of virtual presentations, known as the biocard participant forum. the goal of these presentations is to provide updates on the overall progress of the study, as well as to discuss recent scientific findings of interest.

Biocard Study Welcome to the johns hopkins biocard study. follow our links to learn more about alzheimer’s disease, the study, our research and our team members. Once again this year the biocard study team has organized a series of virtual presentations, known as the biocard participant forum. the goal of these presentations is to provide updates on the overall progress of the study, as well as to discuss recent scientific findings of interest. We are particularly interested in comparing measures of these substances derived from blood, with those derived from csf, with the goal of using blood to screen participants, track changes over time and expand our ability to study the earliest phases of alzheimer’s disease. Participants are seen annually and many have been followed for over 20 years. each annual visit includes assessments of participants’ clinical and cognitive status and blood collection. the collection of mri scans, amyloid pet scans, tau pet scans and csf occurs approximately every other year. How long does each study visit take? what types of transportation assistance is provided for study visits? why is it important for the study to include a broad spectrum of people?. Annually, we provide updates about the study, as well as related findings in the field. there are typically three presentations each year. one presentation is given by the study director and provides a general overview of how the study is progressing, and highlights of specific findings of note.
