Designed to foster year round community events and catalyze downtown development, the mesa city center combines the civic elements of a town square and an urban plaza, offering unique experiences in the valley.
Mesa City Center Master Plan The design is characterized by generous spaces for flexible uses, inviting landscapes celebrating the sonoran desert, and ground floor uses with public oriented programs that draw people into and through mesa city center to main street, the arts center, convention center and residential neighborhoods. Plans, policies, and programs that protect and promote mesa’s historic and cultural assets. Colwell shelor west 8 weddle gilmore has been selected to lead the design process to transform 19 acres surrounding mesa’s city hall into a one of a kind civic space which will capture and enhance the urbanizing momentum of mesa’s downtown core. In 2014, opticos design worked with the city of mesa, arizona to create a master plan and form based code (fbc) that would provide incentives for redevelopment in their downtown core and along a five mile stretch of main street.
