Empowering Schools And Communities In Rural India Karuna What is the aim of the project? to enable primary and secondary school girls from marginalised communities to continue their education and complete secondary school to transform their lives and secure their future. Poverty and cultural beliefs around gender are key barriers to girls education in india. girls are viewed as a financial burden to their families and are often at risk of being taken out of school and married off early, thus increasing their vulnerability to domestic abuse.

Our community centered approach works with local farmers to develop adaptative agriculture techniques. these integrate modern technology with nature based solutions and renewable energy to create resilient and sustainable livelihoods. We support educational projects that transforms lives and livelihoods, working with in country partners embedded in the communities they serve.

Karuna, a charity inspired by buddhist values, works alongside the most excluded people in south asia, overcoming poverty and discrimination with locally led projects focusing on gender equality, education and sustainable livelihoods. This project seeks to prevent early marriage and school dropouts by creating strong networks of women and girls who become beacons of strength in their communities. Karuna supports women to find their own strength and independence so that they can become leaders and social change makers. through our projects, we support women to reclaim their rights and choices, access education and vocational training, and become champions in their communities. Karuna trust is committed to providing essential services in education, medical relief, and aid to the underprivileged in india.
