Zero Degrees Dance Videotanz Zero degrees is a performance about the fragility of a human life, about yin and yang. the piece has won a helpmann award in australia and was nominated for a laurence olivier award in the u.k. Working closely with the two dancers, his design reflecs the concept of duality explored in zero degrees. a rare chance to see four of today’s greatest artists join forces, the music was specially commissioned by composer and producer nitin sawnhey.

Zero Degrees Videotanz Zero degrees started as a desire of sidi larbi cherkaoui to dance a duet with british bengali choreographer and dancer akram khan. both are sons of islamic families brought up in europe, and both draw upon this meeting of cultures, combining complex indian kathak dance with the speed and precisi. For zero degrees they bring their unique styles together in this spellbinding piece of dance. Early on, we realised that the idea of doing scenography wasn't really the most challenging thing for me and so i in fact ended up making copies of akram and larbi as rubber dummies. i took akram’s dummy on the eurostar and delivered him to akram and larbi, who were rehearsing in antwerp.
