Worshiping in a small traditional chapel may enhance the idea that we have an opportunity to have an intimate relationship with god. our setting, or space, can definitely shape the way we view god, thereby shaping the way in which we worship. Here are some examples from my local church in rural devon. when you enter via the north door, you are greeted by a worship space that invites exploration. a person must walk around this setting to appreciate its complexity and the more you move around, the more there is to see. What may be surprising is how readily many millennials embrace similar worship spaces as older generations with a smaller auditorium being the preferred size of worship space. these are essential realizations to uncover as you consider your growing congregation’s ministry needs. Rather than building one massive facility, many churches are choosing to launch multiple smaller venues, each with its own rhythms, teams, and opportunities. leaders we spoke with say this model isn’t just scalable—it’s deeply empowering.
