Workshop Curriculum Challenging Islamophobia And Racism Jvp This facilitator guide offers background and ways for using the network against islamophobia (nai) workshop curriculum and modules as well as practical support for creating an inclusive and welcoming learning environment. We created these materials – a two session curriculum and resources; a series of modules; and a facilitator guide – so we can be effective, accountable partners in this work.
Challenging Racism School Kit Islamophobia has a long and terrible history in the united states. in the wake of the 2016 presidential elections and under the trump administration, the existing systemic discrimination and violence against muslims including heightened surveillance, policing, and state violence has grown worse. The guide includes resources for teachers and students, along with relevant curriculum links. teachers are encouraged to use primary sources and facilitate classroom discussions on prejudice and discrimination, creating a supportive environment for students to express and process their emotions. This initiative provides materials, curricula, and trainings that further teachers' cultural competencies and create more inclusive schooling experiences for all children. the curriculum focuses on six essential questions to guide student learning on anti muslim racism. The curricula and modules were developed over a three year period by those of us at nai, and deeply informed and shaped by the ideas reflections feedback discussions we had from and with jvp chapters, partners in muslim communities, and others impacted by islamophobia and anti arab racism.
