Bar Mace Windlass Steelcrafts The bar mace is a weapon born of sheer strength and simplicity — a brutal reminder of the raw power wielded by medieval warriors. designed to crush helms, shatter swords, and batter shields, it required no finesse, only the might and determination of the fighter behind it. I recently picked up the windlass german mace and im pretty impressed with it. if you or anyone can find any reading material about any historical examples of what that bar mace is based on, id love to read about it. These bars are mounted on a wooden handle that has been wrapped in smooth leather, allowing for a very firm grip. the handle is large enough to be used with one or two hands, and the pommel at the bottom provides balance support and additional gripping options.

Little finesse was needed for this brutal mace, and a warrior strong enough to wield it could crush helms and break swords with the heavy blows it could deliver. made from four bars of steel with a wood and leather grip and a large steel pommel to help balance it, this is indeed an awesome weapon. This particular one was slightly flawed, so was further discounted. i’ve been admiring this piece since windlass released it over a year ago just for its straightforward functionality. supposedly it is based off a period mace found in the thames river.the mace is just about as basic as you can get. Unlike swords, which required skill and precision, a mace could crush through armor and helmets with sheer force. the heavy blows delivered by a well wielded mace could break bones, crush helms, and even damage swords, making it a formidable weapon in the hands of a strong warrior. I have one and from what i can tell i got a runt of production, its got everything except durability in my case as it bends at the top of the handle bottom of bar whenever hitting something. although if mine didn't do that (and they normally don't from what i see) then its definitely a monster mace.
