Home Chalk Back Young women worldwide are letting their voices be heard by forming a community through the unlikely allies of social media and sidewalk chalk via an organization called chalk back. Since our founding in 2016, chalk back has become a leading force on advocacy and creative resistance to gender based harassment and gender based violence. chalk back is a rapidly growing collective of more than 1000 young activists fighting for gender justice and equal access to public space. Six years later, chalk back is a powerful youth led movement of girls, young women, lgbtqia folks, and bipoc folks on six continents combating street harassment. it is a grassroots movement, co created by those who are most harshly impacted by the issue of street harassment globally. Today, malala, malala fund fellows ayesha and tamilore, and ungei teamed up with chalk back for what girls around the world want! ayesha is a medical doctor who advocates for girls’ rights and climate justice in pakistan and tamilore advocates for girls’ education in nigeria. Street harassment crossed borders and boundaries. but countless young feminists fought back—with art, with courage, with community. now imagine a world where those in their beautiful diversity. Chalk back is a collective of young activists around the world raising awareness about gender based harassment and violence. we receive anonymous testimonials via instagram direct message, chalk the stories on the streets of our cities, and then post the images on instagram.
