Welcome To Folkwear Society Folkwear Society Folkwear society is open to all folk clothing enthusiasts who want to contribute to the recording of original items of romanian folkwear as well as get involved in the creation of ethnographic knowledge around these salvaged artefacts or trigger debates around concepts of “authenticity” and “heritage”. Since the 1970s, folkwear patterns have been used by individuals who want to connect with their culture, as well as film, theatre and dance costumers, historic reenactors, art to wear aficionados, and anyone who enjoys sewing and dressing in classic clothes.

Overall, few studies have in fact been carried out that thoroughly documented and preserved folk wear around the different ethnographic zones of romania. we hunted for every book we could get out hands on to better understand the history behind these beautiful artefacts. Folkwear creates high quality sewing patterns for historic and folk clothing from around the world based on authentic garments, with special focus on embellishment details, history, with a catalog of beautiful folk and historic clothing, from dozens of countries and across hundreds of years.
