Weekly Message 05 02 2025 Parashat Tazria Metzora Perhaps, this potential is the message of the first medrash. g d knows we may fail, but that is not what he sees in us. instead, he sees our potential to rise above. even though he knows we will sin, he still seeks to judge us as righteous, and still honors us as he honors himself. g d’s love for us is because he believes in us. Metzora opens by describing the purification process and accompanying sacrifices for one infected with tzaraat, a discoloration condition on the skin. it then describes the process of treating a house infected with tzaraat and the ritual impurity generated by certain bodily discharges. Tzara’at becomes tzara’at by the power of the kohen’s speech. it’s his word (and his word alone) that will up end the person’s life. the kohen’s words will establish the person as a metzora, who must be banished into a weeklong quarantine and then humbly work his way back into the community.
