Warped Y Rail Dust Cover Build Logs Avid Cnc Community I’ve had a problem with the plastic dust cover strips on the y axis rails warping. one of the sections has the mounting hole in line with the rail joiner, so with no screw this section warped more. I've been a little unhappy with the plastic guide rail dust covers that come with the avid pro machines. the problem is that my shop is an unconditioned steel building, so it suffers from temperature extremes of 20s in the winter to 115 in the summer (with 40 degree daily swings).

I keep bumping into the sensors so i designed and 3d printed these "friction fit" sensor covers to help protect the sensors and alert me to their presence. files have been uploaded to and are freely available.
