Voyager 3 Team The Planetary Society When you become a member, you join our mission to increase discoveries in our solar system and beyond, elevate the search for life outside our planet, and decrease the risk of earth being hit by an asteroid. We would monitor the surface of jupiter as continuously as possible for a period of 3 to 4 months, with the aim of achieving an animated cylindrical map of the planet that would reveal the intricate movements of its cloud belts.

Voyager 3 Team The Planetary Society Over the course of their grand tours of the solar system, the voyagers took tens of thousands of images and measurements that significantly changed our understanding of the outer planets. Empowering the world's citizens to advance space science and exploration. peter rosén is the project initiator for the voyager 3 project and "a journey to jupiter." peter rosén shares an amazing animation of jupiter made from more than 1,000 images taken by 91 amateurs from around the world. In 1979, during its final approach to jupiter, voyager 1 sent back this stunning sequence of images taken over 28 days. thirty five years later, in december of 2013, seven amateur astronomers from sweden started voyager 3, a joint project to recreate this sequence with their own images. After completing the first in depth reconnaissance of the outer planets, the twin voyagers are on a new mission to chart the edge of interstellar space. the contents of the golden record were selected for nasa by a committee led by carl sagan of cornell university.
