Volunteer Slo Beaver Brigade The day includes free admission, food, vendors, live music, children’s activities, a beaver trivia contest, speakers, and a plethora of information on the benefits that beavers provide to us in our state and county. The beaver brigade: restoring walters creek through human ingenuity on a warm spring day, mud splattered volunteers mimicked beavers as they stacked coyote brush and soil into a dam with the goal of catching more water in san luis obispo’s walters creek. water only flows through the creek for about half the year, so actual beavers can’t survive there. that’s where the local volunteers. Through an experience with a highly skilled volunteer paid through california’s new college corps scheme, we realized how much we had been missing in our work by not reaching out to historically marginalized communities, and how much we stood to learn. The beaver brigade could not exist without our amazing team of volunteers. from monitoring beaver dams to helping with special events, there are many ways for you to join us as a volunteer.
