Devos Art Museum Hosts Faculty Exhibition Northern Today The volunteer docent program is open to all, and the hours and scheduling are flexible. we provide training on how to look at and talk about art, as well as how to engage young viewers, facilitate discussion, and navigate the museum. At the dma, volunteers play an invaluable role in fulfilling our mission of serving the community through art. individual opportunities include roles inside the dma as well as ways to bring art experiences to the dallas community. general information about each opportunity is listed below.
Volunteer Devos Art Museum Do you like working with children and enjoy art? the devos art museum is currently seeking volunteers to give tours to local school children! it's a. Eligibility: open to mi, mn, and wi residents, 18 , living north of the 45th parallel (45.9°). the exhibition features artists residing in the upper midwest. work in all media made in the last three (3) years is welcome. work previously exhibited at the museum is not eligible. In 1993 the volunteer docent program was created and numerous outdoor public sculptures were installed across campus, including a sculpture walk adjacent to lee hall. Docents conduct weekly tours of the museum’s collection and exhibitions for groups of visitors ranging from elementary school students to adult visitors.

The museum is actively seeking to add to the collection of self taught and trained artists from the upper peninsula. the largest body of work by a single artist in the collection is that of ishpeming, michigan native n. cecelia kettunen. Free and open to the public. The dallas museum of art (dma) makes this invaluable instruction available free of charge to participating schools through its go van gogh® program. the dma trains volunteers to go into local schools across north texas and lead kids (grades k – 6) through fun and creative activities.
