Vocation Discernment Retreat Downside Abbey This weekend we welcomed about 35 young people to downside for our second vocation discernment weekend. the idea was to offer young catholics an opportunity to think about vocation in the widest sense, and so we invited speakers to address a variety of topics. Please keep all our young brothers in your prayers as they persevere in their vocations. may we all fulfill god’s good plan for all our lives, and thereby participate in his saving work in the world.

Vocation Discernment Retreat Downside Abbey More than 1,400 men and women have attended the weekend in their process of discerning whether they may have a religious vocation in the catholic church. a number of them have gone on to be ordained or profess vows, and some have even returned to serve as staff for the vocation discernment weekend. Come to downside from 15 – 17 april for a retreat. there will be the opportunity to attend the divine office and mass and to talk to members of the community about life as a monk in today’s world. there are only eight places available. contact dom anselm for more details. Working with the diocese, the retreat was given extensive publicity both locally and nationally, and many of the young people came some distance to participate. We have now 2 other religious (a monk and nun) coming for the vocation discernment retreat from 18 20 october, and they will be available to talk to people about matters regarding their own vocation, their congregation and how we discern.
