Uyilo Emobility Programme Charin Uyilo emobility programme is a supporter of charin. the national uyilo emobility programme was established in 2013 as an initiative of the technology innovation agency (act 26 of 2008) to enable, facilitate and mobilise electric vehicle mobility in south africa. The programme operates from a corporate satellite office in johannesburg and technical facilities in the eastern cape hosted by nelson mandela university where the region holds historic reference to when south africa’s automotive manufacturing began in 1924.

The uyilo emobility cluster was established in 2013 as a tia initiative focusing on mobilising the transition to electric mobility and to facilitate an enabling environment that supports the increased uptake of electric mobility vehicles in south africa. As a multi stakeholder programme, uyilo’s activities include government lobbying (policies, regulations and standards), industry engagement (from multi national oems to start ups), pilot projects, capacity development, enterprise development and thought leadership across the ecosystem. The uyilo kick start fund offers agile financial assistance to support electric mobility (emobility) related projects in south africa.
