Unholy Review Thexboxhub "the unholy" wasn't the movie i was hoping for, so i sit here with a somewhat flaccid sense of 'was that really it?' here as the movie ended. i felt somewhat bereft out of what could have been a great horror movie, and was instead served a lukewarm plate of predictability. People are put up on pedestals for a brief shining moment before disillusion comes and the mob arrives, wielding pitchforks for the same person who was idolized the day before. “the unholy” misses a lot of opportunities to build out not just this idea, but all of them. After an intriguing setup that takes its time building atmosphere and characters, declining to rush the first death, the film becomes progressively more overwrought and hokey. it also loads up on derivative tropes that worked better everywhere from ringu through the conjuring universe. When disgraced journalist gerry fenn (jeffrey dean morgan) accepts an assignment to rural banfield, massachusetts to cover a case of suspected cattle mutilation, he uncovers an old corn baby doll and crushes it.

When disgraced journalist gerry fenn (jeffrey dean morgan) accepts an assignment to rural banfield, massachusetts to cover a case of suspected cattle mutilation, he uncovers an old corn baby doll and crushes it. Though the unholy has a bit of a sluggish set up, the story soon gains steam as alice’s “evolution” is established, but even then, the film is rarely as scary as one would expect for its first two acts, prioritizing subtle suspense over non stop scares. Unholy has some good moments, but it's let down with some odd gameplay choices and some janky cutscenes and poor acting. Unholy has a good foundation for a horror game, but little is followed through to a successful conclusion to rate the game as fun. stealth doesn't work, the story doesn't draw you in, the atmosphere doesn't capture you, the main character doesn't interest you at all and it seems unnatural. There was a lot of attention and care given to unholy’s overall aesthetic, especially in the environment, and it shows. the puzzles were simple yet not something immediately solved, the game was decently difficult without being hard, and achievements offer some opportunity for replayability.
