Work Experience Noma Bid Underpass Public Art The k street virtual gallery is a public outdoor art gallery featuring original, digital art projected on to the walls of the amtrak underpass between first and second streets ne in noma. It launched the competition in april 2014, with 248 teams from 14 countries providing their qualifications to produce and implement underpass improvements. a noma underpass jury reviewed submissions and determined the teams qualified to submit design concepts.

Work Experience Noma Bid Underpass Public Art The noma bid is “decking the walls” this holiday season with two new, interactive art installations. the exhibitions highlight the bid’s dedication to fostering a unique, vibrant public art scene which celebrate diversity, community and creativity in the neighborhood. Developed for the noma business improvement district this public art design concept and identity responds to a challenge seeking ways to create a unique experience and unify several underpasses in dc’s noma neighborhood. The walls beneath the k street underpass and the m street underpass feature large scale, light based installations that glow at night. these projects are easy to explore on foot or by bike, and many are part of self guided routes offered by noma bid and local art groups. The $2.5 million light art, the pedestrian passageway, and the concrete barriers all represent old tactics being reimagined in new ways to eradicate unhoused people from noma’s underpasses and bring the noma bid into the flows of global capital.
