Troubleshooting Child Directed Play
Troubleshooting Child Directed Play When you engage in child directed play with your child, you put yourself in a nondirective role. children are encouraged to choose what to do and how to do it. parents are told to refrain from suggesting activities or providing ideas, or even asking their child directly, on what to do. In response to increasing evidence of negative consequences for children because of this omission (gray, 2011), this article offers support for teachers in maintaining child directed play in their programs by suggesting specific strategies to try across the early childhood period.
Troubleshooting Child Directed Play Child directed play (cdp) is a special form of one to one play between you and your child in which your child directs and leads. cdp can be used with children who are between about 2 and 10 with slight adjustments for age or developmental level. Given the importance of play for children’s holistic development, this paper will explore and analyse teacher’s support of children’s directed play and its contribution to children’s development.
