Travel Assignment Matt Rigby
About Matt Matt Rigby My work focuses on developing methods for determining sources and sinks of greenhouse gases and ozone depleting substances. I carry out this work in collaboration with researchers around the world through the advanced global atmospheric gases experiment (agage), a global monitoring network that measures over 40 trace gases at high frequency and precision.

Professor matthew rigby’s research aims to better understand the changing concentrations of greenhouse gases and ozone depleting substances in the atmosphere. he does this using observations and computer simulations of atmospheric trace gas transport. In this work, we carry out the first global hierarchical bayesian inversion to solve for nitrous oxide emissions, which includes prior emissions with truncated gaussian distributions and gaussian. You and some of your friends want to travel to another country to provide aid in the form of a mission trip. you have been chosen as the team leader, and your job is to provide a plan for the trip, including a financial plan.

Using a combination of physical measurement and sophisticated modelling techniques, professor simon o’doherty and dr matt rigby work in collaboration with dr alistair manning from the uk met office to monitor the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere above the uk. As a member of the agage science team, he has led several prominent publications on halocarbon emissions. he is a lead author of the 2018 and 2022 ozone assessments and has contributed to several other sap, teap and ipcc assessment reports. Before moving to bristol, i worked at the massachusetts institute of technology (mit) as a research scientist in the center for global change science. i have phd in atmospheric physics from imperial college london, and a degree in physics from cambridge university, where i studied at clare college.
