Tool Height Setter Electronics Maker Forums Just got sent a design for a tool height setter using hall effect sensor. a great design that is all shared for the community. Anyway, my goal is to make a very low profile height setter, that still has some over travel. i want to make it height and tram adjustable. not wildly adjustable, but easy to "fix". i have a dual coil spring idea for that. the target height is 1" or under with atleast 1 4" of over travel.

Raise Height Of Tool Height Setter Ex Avid Cnc Community I am basically looking for a macro that does what the tool height setter in mach4 does. here is my workflow: (1) set z 0 on my mill top (i do this is with a probe in the spindle, but could be accomplished many ways). Looking to get a switch type to set my z height i know you sold your design, where can i get one? constructing a low profile tool height setter. I ask, because on my decades old bridgeport, i can hold 2 10th thousandth all day long over dozens of tool changes of the same tool, so long as i do not remove the tool from its holder, or wear the tool face. I’d like to raise the height of the tool height setter at least a 1 2" (12mm) to avoid hitting the dust shroud when measuring short bits. any examples of doing this, or recommendations?.

What few good erickson holders are around in qc 30 are for oddball tool sizes, and are horribly expensive. the cheap chinese knock off holders often do not properly fit a quick change spindle collar, even though the taper is correct. I finally supplied my self with a proper 6" height gauge that gets under milling heads, but a constant z is far easier to use. a conventional height gauge, if compact enough, gets into play on castings, where a starting place is not so clear, and then establish other features. I really need a low force solution to check the tool length offset, it takes too long to do manually and tool breakage is too much of a problem. i only need pretty crummy repeatability by industry standards.
