With re issues of old films, many people have bought the dvd or bd and the studio has multiplied its costs many times over already. everything that can be rolled in from the reissue is just pure profit so saving 2 cents on printing costs for bd covers is poor form. I have read somewhere (from a rep from a dvd label) that painted poster motifs on dvd bluray don't sell well. also, i think the usage of original posters is sometimes limited by the bluray cover height width ratio. I certainly like it better than the lousy wonder woman flying through the air steelbook cover, and of course the apollo 13 cover is also nasty looking. i admire that they tried to go beyond the usual hack photoshop job with this cover.
