Sister Cities Project The sister city program was born to partner affluent communities with underserved communities in san diego county for the following purposes: provide opportunities for city officials and citizens to experience and explore other cultures through long term community partnerships. Connect cities facing similar water, utilities, and infrastructure challenges to share proven solutions and technical expertise. facilitate focused, staff driven exchanges where planners, engineers, and leaders learn directly from peers who've solved similar problems.
Sister Cities Project Welcome to sister cities international, founded by president dwight d. eisenhower in 1956 to promote peace through people to people diplomacy. for nearly seventy years, sci’s leadership and volunteers have established thousands of partnerships between u.s. cities and cities worldwide. Sister cities international is creating a network of sister city partnerships committed to implementing the concepts of sustainable development, as outlined by the international community. Three tandems – each uniting one berlin ngo with a partner ngo in the respective city – work together to tackle global challenges and build lasting, equitable, and vibrant connections between these cities. After successfully completing terms of the partnership friendship agreement, a city council member must place it as an item on the city council agenda for a vote before the entire council.

Since our inception in 1956, sister cities international has worked to create global relationships based on cultural, educational, informational, and trade exchanges. the result? participants have developed lifelong friendships that foster prosperity and peace through citizen diplomacy. Sister cities project creates formal partnerships between affluent communities and underserved communities to create programs and events that allow the two areas to build true relationships. Africa urban poverty alleviation program: in 2009, sister cities international launched the africa urban poverty alleviation program, a three year project to alleviate poverty in 25 african cities through water, sanitation, and health initiatives led by u.s. and african sister city programs. Following is a summary of steps involved in forming a sister city affiliation. this is intended to serve as a guideline for groups interested in initiating the process. on average, we have found that it takes one to two years to establish a new association.
