The hatchery was founded as a nonprofit joint venture between accion chicago, a nonprofit microlender, and the kinzie industrial development corporation (kidc) in 2016 to deliver programming and services for entrepreneurs in the food industry.

The hatchery is a leading business incubator in chicago, providing startups and early stage companies with flexible space, expert mentorship, and a collaborative entrepreneurial community. The hatchery is designed to be a one stop shop for food businesses, providing access to space, financing, and resources for support. we work to develop businesses at all stages and all types of food and beverage companies. Cclf funded the hatchery, located in chicago’s east garfield park neighborhood, is a food and beverage incubator providing entrepreneurs a space to grow successful businesses.
