Characteristics Of Transit Oriented Development Area Case Study Transit oriented development (tod) has been widely introduced in the global south countries and drawn growing scholarly attention. this paper critically reviews and concisely summarizes the research findings pertaining to the travel, equity and wellbeing impacts of tod in the global south. Prior to joining clf, tracy served as the transit oriented development fellow at massinc, where she conducted research and convened stakeholders to promote equitable development in massachusetts’ gateway and regional cities.
Oriented Toward Equity A Rating System For Equitable Transit Oriented We uncover the roots of the etod movement by walk ing through the historical transition beyond conventional tod (transit oriented development) into one with ‘capital e equity’ at the forefront. The 62 page report expands on findings from the group’s 2018 study and encourages leaders and policymakers to intentionally use transit oriented development to address equity issues and uneven urban growth in gateway cities. The case studies highlight the importance of community led development, affordable housing requirements, and inclusive public space design in promoting social equity in tod projects. This thesis examines equity implications of social and economic change in the areas surrounding newly implemented transit stations, as well as public sector efforts to promote equitable transit oriented development. The primary objective is to investigate equity impacts from a tod perspective, examining how different components of the built environment influence equity outcomes for various social groups. this includes factors such as social, travel, perception, health, and spatial aspects. The purple line corridor coalition (plcc) was established in 2013 to balance equitable transit oriented development against potential for displacement. in this paper, we analyze the structure, activities, and performance of the plcc.
