Our Unique Approach Youth Mentoring Connection It may have been a parent, a teacher, a relative, or a mentor. unfortunately, many of today’s urban youth lack this positive guidance, resulting in alarming dropout, teen pregnancy, and incarceration rates. We support youth aged 6–18, tailoring our programs to meet their unique developmental, social, and emotional needs. each experience is thoughtfully designed to nurture growth at every stage. Join us to mentor a waiting child in your community. big brothers big sisters lone star serves youth in houston, dallas, tarrant county, west central tx, and wichita county. Mentor texas is working to advance the power of mentoring across texas. as part of a strong and unified national movement, mentor texas is positioned to leverage national resources and partnerships while focusing on the unique needs of texas’s youth. In our first year, we aim to serve over 50 students through tutoring, mentorship, and leadership training — with 90% matched to a dedicated mentor and 75% showing academic improvement by the end of the semester. One of ylsc’s core tenants is to create spaces where students from diverse backgrounds can join together in shared conversations and experiences. we encourage students to build relationships with people from other schools, racial, ethnic, geographic, socio economic, and religious backgrounds.
