Literature on design thinking has mainly focused on whether its key principles enhance performance in the development phase (the d of r&d) of the technological innovation process. The technological (innovation) systems framework was developed by a set of swedish scholars in the late 1980s and early 1990s. the initiative came from swedish policy makers, who wanted to ‘build a better foundation for technology policy’ (carlsson et al. 2010, p. 146). By blending aspects of human centred design with innovation theory, design thinking offers a structured framework for developing novel solutions. this review synthesises findings from twenty studies, providing an overview of current insights and applications of innovation and design thinking. Accenture’s think tank translates emerging insights, ideas, and technologies into innovation focus areas. it investigates disruptions, bridges game changing technologies with adaptation needs, and delivers actionable concepts grounded in business and client value. Panelists discussed how ut is already embracing the use of ai to develop next generation technologies faster, better, and economically across a range of fields whether that’s ai enabled drug discovery, semiconductor chip design or robotics.
