Tandem E Bike Electric Bike Forums I'm building a semi recumbent tandem to improve on one i made 20 years ago (see photo). the plan is to use a shimano steps 8000 set up if possible so hoping to find advice from others who have used this in less conventional ways. Electric Tandem Conversion Kit To Transform Your Tandem Into Electric I'm in the middle of converting a gary fisher gemini tandem bike to a bbs02 mid drive. not easy. the bb axle, eccentric, and shell are not standard. I'm also not a bike expert, but am an engineer who can usually figure things out. however, i don't want to be having to do things like machine custom parts. i want something i can do in a day. i'm trying to figure out both a good motor setup and a tandem that will work well with that. In the past we have ridden with plano bicycle club and they have come to denton and ridden with us. there are lots of clubs around and wanted to see if there was interest in doing some rides with various club around the area. it would be a chance to see some new areas and build a little wider bicycle community. just some thoughts. paul graff and 11 others. I want to add some assistance to a 2006 dawes double edge tandem, 26"x1.75" mtb style wheels with disk brakes, triple stokers derailleur and 9 speed rear cassette, as my wife and i are approaching 60 and starting to find hills more taxing, especially starting off on a hill. We live near to jd tandems (gargrave, north yorkshire) and can wholeheartedly recommend them for knowlegeable, appropriate and helpful advice on choosing an e tandem, if you are buying new.
