Supporting Women Dairy Farmers Sciaf In southern ethiopia, limited resources and extreme weather are making life exceptionally hard for dairy farmers and their families. in 2020, we began a three year project, supported by jersey overseas aid, to improve milk production and help farming families sell their product at market. Studying women’s empowerment in dairy farming systems, including measuring their empowerment level, will likely provide valuable information to stakeholders designing and implementing policies towards gender equality in agriculture.

The women in dairy report by the international dairy federation (idf) explores efforts around the world to empower women within the dairy sector. this publication provides insights into how women are supported to thrive and address challenges in transformative food systems. Together, we’re investing €10 million in 12 programs to support 83,000 smallholder farmers including 28,000 women to build stronger livelihoods and take part in more resilient, compliant, higher value supply chains.
