This year, the theme is story garden – adventures in nature and the great outdoors. the aim is to encourage reading during the summer break. children can sign up for the challenge at their local library where they can also collect a poster and stickers.

Throughout the summer, children joining ‘story garden’ can discover new books, participate in free activities at their local library, and explore the link between reading and the great outdoors, where nature and imagination come together. Discover new adventures in nature with this year's challenge story garden. uncover magical creatures, vibrant plants, and enchanting landscapes in the books you choose this summer. Children completing the challenge (6 books) will be entered into a lucky dip at their library for the chance to win a £50 voucher for the works, to buy arts, crafts and books. there’s also a treasure hunt to complete once the challenge is complete for a chance to win a book token. Through books and activities in their local library, this summer children will explore the connection between storytelling and the natural world—helping to build confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of reading.
