Nebraska Rural Health Association Ensuring access to health care in rural communities has been a long standing challenge for state and federal policymakers, including within nebraska. to inform initiatives and policies to address these challenges, timely and accurate data on the health care workforce in the state are needed. The “2023 status of the nebraska healthcare workforce” report, commissioned and funded by the office of rural health initiatives at unmc and the nebraska area health education center program, pointed to declining numbers of some health professionals, such as primary care physicians.
