Staff Tiger Battalion
Staff Tiger Battalion Tiger battalions (german: schwere panzerabteilung, abbreviated s.pz.abt.) were specialized heavy tank battalions of the german army (heer) and waffen ss during the second world war, equipped primarily with the panzerkampfwagen vi tiger i and later the tiger ii (königstiger king tiger) heavy tanks. According to schneider, this seems to have been the case for the 501st heavy ss tank battalion which had its full complement of tiger iis by dec. 1944 (it was attached to the 2nd ss tank division during the battle of the bulge).
Staff Tiger Battalion On 1 april 1945, they engaged in combat with seven tigers per company in kassel, reporting that three further tiger iis had been lost due to bomb damage. the battalion continued the struggle on the eastern front until the end of the war. "thanks, y'all." s1. s 2. s 3. "you're only as good as your last performance so do more get better results." s4. s 5. s 6. In the hands of the commander, the tiger battalion is therefore a powerful weapon in the heaviest combat. its strength lies with the concentration, aggressive assault. the more fragmented the employment, the weaker it is. thorough preparation of employment against a critical area guarantees success. tiger battalions are army level units. On 8 march 1942, the german leadership ordered the establishment of a panzer abteilung (tank battalion) for the totenkopf division. the order was back dated to 5 march 1942 on an order calling for the establishment of a separate panzer abteilung for the das reich division.

Battalion administration: 1 nco, 5 3 soldiers, 6 4 rifles, 1 light four seat passenger vehicle (volkswagen) (later deleted), & 2 4.5 ton trucks. A german heavy tank battalion (schwere panzer abteilung) was an independent armored formation of the wehrmacht heer and waffen ss during world war ii, specialized in deploying heavy tanks such as the panzerkampfwagen vi tiger ausf. Armed with the tiger ii the battalion launches a night attack on sachsendorf (saxony, eastern germany) on 22 march. after two days of fighting little progress was made, mainly due to the inexperience of the infantry accompanying them. During wwii, german tiger tanks were primarily organized into special schwere panzer abteilung (roughly "heavy tank battalions"). ten wehrmacht and three waffen ss schwere panzer abteilung were formed.
