Uga S Stable Isotope Lab Becomes Largest In North America Uga Today Located on the university of california, davis campus, in the department of plant sciences, the stable isotope facility (sif) provides analytical services for local, national, and international researchers. the sif analyzes over 190,000 samples every year on 16 analytical systems. Suerc's stable isotope laboratory provides carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen and sulphur isotope measuring facilities. we house a large range of stable isotope instrumentation and vacuum preparation systems of vintages spanning three decades. An integral part of the stratum reservoir offering, isotech is the largest commercial stable isotope laboratory in the world, specializing in high precision carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and sulfur isotope analysis – isotopic fingerprinting – for a variety of industries across the globe. The stable isotope laboratory was established in 1989 as a regional center for stable isotope analysis. since then, the laboratory has developed into a well respected world class facility, collaborating with researchers throughout the united states, as well as in europe, south america and elsewhere.

Light isotope laboratory houses a thermoelectron mat 253 to measure stable h, c, n, o, s, and cl isotope ratios of silicate, phosphate, and carbonate minerals, volcanic gases, and water, and study of the gas chemistry of the critical zone (co 2 in caves, soils and vegetative canopies). We use various stable isotope approaches to monitor metabolism in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo. in the schematic on the left we present a simple workflow for determining 13 c carbon contribution to the process. By measuring the ratios of stable isotopes such as carbon 13, nitrogen 15, or oxygen 18, researchers can uncover patterns in food webs, climate history, metabolic pathways, and more. this article explains how stable isotope analysis works and how it's applied across multiple disciplines. The university of south florida stable isotope lab (usfsil) provides stable c, h, o, n, and s isotope analyses of both organic and inorganic samples to researchers from geology, anthropology, biology, geography, and more.
