Sdds will help citizens across the uk to obtain copies of their digital trace data; assist them in using it to understand their digital lives; and offer them the opportunity to enrich and donate their data for use in scientific research.

Sdds enables people to take control and donate their digital data – the data that companies already hold about them. people can do this lawfully and safely, with informed consent. we then securely standardise and store these sensitive records within a secure research environment. The smart data donation service, led by dr david zendle and professor florian block at the university of york, will seek to empower citizens to take control of their own data and share it safely with researchers.
